LS Retail has been recognized as a major player among worldwide Point of Sale (POS) vendors for both full-service and quick service/fast casual restaurants in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Point-Of-Sale Software in the Full-Service Restaurant Sector 2024-2025 Vendor Assessment and IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Point-of-Sale Software in the Quick Service/Fast-Casual Restaurant Sector 2024 Vendor Assessment

These reports evaluate global POS vendors based on various factors, with a strong emphasis on omnichannel capabilities and support for reporting, customer engagement, scalability, and delivery flexibility. Dorothy Creamer, Senior Research Manager for Hospitality and Travel Digital Transformation Strategies at IDC, explains, “In full-service restaurants, the point-of-sale must be able to effortlessly transition from server-led interaction to kitchen display systems to guest-facing ordering and payment options.” (Source: IDC.)

She further notes that in quick-service restaurants, “POS software increasingly must check all the boxes on features and functionalities that have always been necessary, while also evolving to offer greater omnichannel capabilities and embedded intelligence to drive profitability.” (Source: IDC.)

Vendor inclusion criteria

To be included in the study, POS vendors must meet the following criteria:

  • An established reputation, offering POS software solutions that full-service have deployed.
  • Have an annual revenue of more than $25 million
  • Offer enterprise-ready global POS software with advanced omnichannel and point-of-sale functionality with out-of-the-box features such as online and tableside ordering, mobile options, KDS, and delivery integrations
  • Must be able to deploy and scale solutions globally

Each assessment analyzes eight global POS vendors, including names like Oracle, Lightspeed, and GK Software.

A strong software solution for both the full-service and quick-service restaurant industries

In both reports, LS Retail software is highlighted for its unified approach and SaaS capabilities, which always keeps customers on the latest version of the software automatically. “Full-service restaurants are under increasing pressure to innovate, as guests expect more convenient tableside ordering and payment and operators require improved visibility across the enterprise,” writes Creamer in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Point-Of-Sale Software in the Full-Service Restaurant Sector 2024-2025 Vendor Assessment. “LS Retail offers a holistic commerce platform and has a strong strategy in place to ensure clients remain on its software’s most up-to-date version.” (Source: IDC.)

“We are honored to be recognized as a major player in the IDC MarketScape reports for both full-service and quick service restaurants,” says Kristjan Johannsson, General Manager at LS Retail. LS Retail was also named a major player in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Hotel Point-of-Sale Software 2024 Vendor Assessment. “This recognition only further highlights the robustness of our software solutions across multiple industries. By prioritizing SaaS, we empower businesses to adopt and scale their operations effortlessly, enabling them to remain agile and competitive in today’s demanding market.”

A robust restaurant software solution

The IDC MarketScape reports specifically highlight LS Central for restaurants, the comprehensive restaurant management software from LS Retail that combines sales, inventory, customer loyalty, self-service, KDS, reporting, and much more on one platform. This unified approach gives restaurants a single overview of their business from one central place, instead of relying on multiple separate systems.

Key restaurant-specific features include integration with self-service technologies such as kiosks, tableside ordering, and QR codes, as well as capabilities for ingredient tracking, waste management, KDS functionality, and integration to online ordering platforms.

Today, thousands of full-service restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars, coffeehouses, fast-food chains, and more rely on LS Retail software to manage their operations. “LS Retail enjoys high client satisfaction for its support and ability to scale this support, and its client base is growing,” Creamer notes. “The vendor deploys dedicated development teams to meet clients’ needs, ensuring its systems are continuously improved and perform optimally.” (Source: IDC.)

Earlier this year, LS Central for restaurants was also recognized in the 2024 Gartner Market Guide for Digital-Business-Ready POS Applications for Tier 1 Quick Service Restaurants, further cementing its reputation as a leader in the industry.
