Leading pharmaceutical and healthcare company McKesson UK has selected LS Central for pharmacies, a software solution for dispensing operations, as the new software system for its LloydsPharmacy chain.
McKesson UK is the leading wholesaler of pharmaceuticals and healthcare products in the UK. The company also runs the largest community pharmacy network in the country under the brand names LloydsPharmacy, Careway, and John Bell & Croyden.
“We can confirm that, following a rigorous selection process, we have chosen a supplier to deliver a dispensing solution in our 1600 LloydsPharmacy community pharmacies. LS Retail is new to McKesson in the UK market, but already supplies McKesson in Scandinavia. It is anticipated that the new system will be in stores early in 2020,” said Ranjit Gill, CIO at McKesson UK.
LS Retail is Microsoft’s largest independent software vendor within retail and pharmacy. LS Central for pharmacy is built on Enterprise Resource planning (ERP) system Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The solution enables businesses to handle back office tasks, financials, pharmaceuticals and retail stock within the same system. LS Central for pharmacy is already the solution of choice for 320 pharmacies run by NMD (Norsk Medisinaldepot AS), one of the biggest suppliers of pharmaceuticals and healthcare products in Norway. In Sweden, on LS Central for pharmacy powers 70 pharmacies in the LloydsApotek chain. Both NMD and LloydsApotek are part of McKesson Europe.
“LS Central for pharmacy is a key part of our strategy, which we call unified commerce infused with intelligence,” says Magnus Norddahl, CEO and President at LS Retail. “It’s a holistic solution that provides companies with the deep, detailed insights they need to streamline their business, and to give customers the personal attention they deserve. For a leader in its industry like McKesson, it makes perfect sense to choose a solution built on agility, reliability and intelligence.”
“The new cloud-based solution continues to prioritise patient safety,” said Ranjit Gill, CIO at McKesson UK. “Fewer clicks in the dispensing process will enable our colleagues to spend more time providing help and advice to their customers and patients. As well as providing efficiency gains, the system will allow investment in a new IT infrastructure, which means people will be served quicker in our pharmacies.”
The implementation project is managed in cooperation by LS Retail and McKesson.
