Driving pharmacy innovation in Northern Europe with Euroapotheca
LS Retail has signed an agreement with international group Euroapotheca to provide the group with a unified dispensing and pharmacy solution for their pharmacy operations in Northern Europe. LS Retail’s pharmacy software LS Central for pharmacy is already the software of choice of several global pharmacy retail brands, including Apoteksgruppen, a Swedish chain which is part of the Euroapotheca group of companies. Apoteksgruppen recently announced they will merge with Kronans Apotek, forming the third largest pharmacy chain in Sweden. Kronans Apotek also uses LS Central for pharmacy as its dispensing and pharmacy software.
Established in 1998, Euroapotheca operates physical and online retail pharmacies and wholesale pharmaceutical companies in Lithuania, Sweden, Latvia, and Estonia. The group currently owns 480 pharmacies and 119 franchised pharmacies in four countries, employing more than 3900 employees. Besides Apoteksgruppen in Sweden, Euroapotheca controls pharmacy chains Eurovaistinė in Lithuania, Euroapteek in Estonia, and Euroaptieka in Latvia.
LS Retail is Microsoft’s largest independent software vendor within retail and pharmacy. LS Central for pharmacy is built on enterprise resource planning (ERP) system Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The software platform enables businesses to handle back-office tasks, financials, pharmaceuticals, electronic prescriptions, and retail stock within the same system.
“We are excited to work with Euroapotheca, who have strong IT competencies to contribute to product development and deploy our dispensing solution to more pharmacy chains within their group,” says Kristjan Johannsson, Chief Commercial Officer at LS Retail. “We believe that LS Central for pharmacy is the ideal solution for pharmacy chains, as it already helps several brands in multiple countries to meet their unified dispensing needs while complying with highly regulated operations.”
“We have had excellent cooperation with LS Retail, and we have been impressed with the functionality of LS Central for pharmacy,” says Donatas Domkus, Chief Technology Officer at Euroapotheca. “We are eager to investigate how their software can be used for comprehensive retail and pharmacy operations in countries outside Sweden. As a result, the Euroapotheca IT department has become a development partner for LS Retail”
Apoteksgruppen is still in the process of implementing LS Central, with rollout expected for 2022. When the project is completed, LS Central for pharmacy will be used to manage both in-store and online sales. The pharmacies will also offer omni-channel services like click and collect and home delivery.
